Update on Container Street Turns

Dear Customer,

The following excerpt is taken from a Customer Bulletin received from Sealand a Maersk Company:

[Start]

We'd like to remind our customers all container street turns will need to be approved using the digital platform Avantida that went into effect last March, 2019.

Because we understand driver hours are a significant contributing factor in North America truck power availability, our goal is to help maximize the time your trucker is able to stay on the move. We know that every minute matters when it comes to your Intermodal productivity.    Street turns have long been an effective way to maximize driver efficiency, however turn times of up to two hours for carrier approval by email reduce that efficiency and can create delays at terminal gates.   As of today, motor carriers will be able to obtain almost instant street turn approval using the digital paid service provider Avantida. Your motor carrier will need to register with Avantida at https://www.avantida.com/en/the-platform/. Once registered in the platform, truckers will have access to Avantida's automated request process, returning accurate responses within minutes and delivering time and overall cost savings.

Instant street turn approval provided by this service should help in reducing the time your trucker will need to spend on administrative tasks, allowing your cargo to get on the move more quickly.

A charge of $30 USD/ equivalent in Canadian Dollars will be applicable for approved street turns and is payable directly on the Avantida platform. Street turns may only be executed after approval is received on the Avantida platform.  Sealand/Maersk will assess a penalty of $100 USD for any Merchant Haulage street turns of Maersk-owned equipment performed outside of Avantida, payable by the trucker.

[End]

We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Sincerely,
