MSC has issued the following update to the industry:

 

Please note an adjustment to the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) advisory previously announced.  Revised details below.

 

MSC (Canada) Inc. will be implementing an Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) on on all export shipments from Canada. Specific details as follows:

 

Revised Effective Date: 23rd March, 2026 (based on sail date)
 

Revised Quantum: USD 75 per 20’ container (Dry) & USD 150 per 40’ container (Dry) 
 

Affected Trades:

  • Australia & New Zealand
  • Bahamas / Cuba
  • Black Sea
  • East Africa
  • East Mediterranean
  • Far East – East Coast
  • Far East – West Coast
  • Greece & Turkey
  • India / Pakistan / Sri Lanka
  • Mexico
  • Middle East & Gulf
  • North Africa
  • NWC & UK
  • Red Sea
  • Scan & Baltic
  • South Africa & Indian Ocean
  • West Africa
  • West Mediterranean

Kindly note there is no change to the EFS and effective date for the following trades:

 

Quantum: USD 150 per 20’ container (Dry) & USD 300 per 40’ container (Dry)

 

Effective Date & Affected Trades: 

 

March 9, 2026 (based on sail date): Caribbean, Central America, East Coast South America, Venezuela, West Coast South America
April 1, 2026 (based on sail date): United States / Puerto Rico
