Dear Customer,
As you are most likely aware, it is getting more difficult to secure RV’s for the ingate of export container cargo destined to the Port of Montreal.
Please be advised that we have been informed that CN Rail is currently facing a backlog for Port of Montreal traffic because of vessel delays due to winter storms in the Atlantic.
Due to lack of imports to load, CN has had to reduce trains planned to avoid cars sitting/dwelling outside the port. This has resulted in CN yards becoming increasingly congested due to the high ground count of containers already in their yards awaiting railcar availability to move out to Port.
In response to the growing levels of congestion, CN has had to limit the number of available export RVs for subsequent vessels and are currently prioritizing the release of RV’s for the closest vessels arriving to Port.

We understand the impact to our customers and are working to prioritize the provision of alternatives as they are made available.
