Dear Customer,

Further to our previous advisory, the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) has advised that the Longshoremen’s Union has provided a 72-hour notice of general strike commencing Monday, April 26th at 07:00am. All members of the Local 375 will be on an unlimited general strike.

As we await further advisory on the status of continued negotiations it is expected that in the interim, both CN / CP will cease export receiving stranding any outgated containers.

It is also expected that in response to the strike notice, the vessel operators will work to omit their calls at Montreal and divert / delay vessels leaving containers on rail / on dock to dwell for the duration of the strike.

We will not be in a position to access containers in the pipeline.

We are being advised by the vessel lines that all accumulation of detention / storage against containers held up due to the strike will be billable.

Unfortunately, we are not currently in a position to quantify or valuate the expected costs.  Lines will be looking to pass along all associated expenses.

While we are doing our utmost to reduce the impact of these challenges to your business, our efforts continue to be impacted by factors beyond our control.  Additional expenses appliable that cannot be avoided will in turn be charged to the account of the cargo.

We will continue to be diligent in our communication of such charges and will continue to endeavor to provide market updates as they are announced to the industry.

Our Hensall Global team is here to support our customers and are available to answer any questions that you may have.

Sincerely,

HENSALL GLOBAL LOGISTICS
