Port of Montreal Labour Update

Dear Customer,

On August 10, 2020 a general strike was initiated at The Port of Montreal.  The entire port had no labour available to work including container terminals, grain terminals, etc.

On August 23, 2020, the longshore workers returned to work as the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) and the Longshoreman Union CUPE 375 agreed to a seven-month truce.  This truce is valid until March 20, 2021. The truce agreement included no public statements from either side until March 20th.

At this time, the federal mediator has suspended contract negotiations between the MEA and the Union.

Unfortunately, no further details are available at this time.

We will continue to monitor the situation and advise as and when new information becomes available.

Sincerely,
