Dear Customer,

Please be advised that we are seeing “volume controls” communicated to the industry by CP Rail in an effort to manage export cargo flows to / through the Port of Montreal.

In short, CP Rail appears to be closing their inland ramps to receiving on a rotating basis across the country.

We are advised that the Vaughn terminal in Toronto will be closed to receiving tomorrow.  Similar communication received out of Calgary and Winnipeg earlier this week.

We understand that the initiative is being employed in response to continued labour constraints (long shore workers)…..whereby the union won’t provide staff to manage cargo flow arriving over the weekend.

We are continuing to monitor the situation as it evolves and will endeavor to provide further updates as they are received.

While we are doing our utmost to reduce the impact of these challenges to your business, our efforts are limited by these unprecedented events that are beyond our control. There may be additional expenses applicable that cannot be avoided and which in turn must be charged to the account of the cargo.

Sincerely,
